The time has come to define and curb the "powers" of the Judiciary. It is not the role of an unelected Supreme Court to force contravercial new directions on a democratic society, thereby bypassing the Legislature. There are societal consequences to such sweeping changes as legalizing gay "marriage", especially when such changes are opposed by a large segment of the population. The Midrash says that the Flood did not occur as a result of the rabid sexual immorality of the time, but when contracts began legally "legitimizing" these unions between inappropriate human (and even non-human) sexual "partners". I fear for whatever sort of "flood" will ensue from this current High Court ruling, and agreee with the MK`s who wish to trim the sails of Israel`s Judicial establishment.
