It is funny that so many Israeli Jews don`t want Diaspora Jews to be able to criticize Israel. While it is true that we don`t live under the threat of annihilation, as do Israelis, you count on our economic and political support for helping you to stay strong. If it weren`t for pressure from American Jews, the United States might not have recognized Israel when it declared it`s independence, and Israel might never have won it`s war or wars, for that matter. We area the one`s who prevent anti-Israel resolutions in the Secrity Cousel time and time again. We, and most Diaspora Jews are emotionally invested in your country`s well-being, even if we are not under threat. But, even that is not entirely true. Many Jews in Europe and elsewhere experience anti-Semitic acts because of what happens in Israel. I`m not saying that this is Israel`s fault, but it is real, nonetheless. |
