It isn`t. It`s a Middle East country ruled by European-looking powerbrokers; people who happen to be Jewish rather than Muslim, and who dress very expensively.
So it is a world of power and influence based on corruption, cronyism, the triumph of appearance over substance, and a disrespect for the rule of law.
It`s just that they don`t have the trappings of your typical Middle East ruling class, and so everyone pretends that they Must be Different.
But deep down? No better (and, admittedly, no worse) than neighbors like Jordan or Lebanon or even - Gosh! - Iran. |
