You might do well not simply to repeat myths about the benign treatment of Jews in Muslim lands. From the start, it was otherwise, as when Muhammad in 627 had all the six to eight hundred Jewish males in Medina lined up and beheaded one by one. (Karsh, Islamic Imperialism, Yale University Press, 2006, p. 13). Moreover, returning to the issue of land and property ownership in your post and extending it beyond Jerusalem, when the Zionists ARRIVED in Palestine, the land was in crisis: "As well as denuding the country of trees, for over a thousand years the Arabs had used so much animal dung for fuel that the soil was deprived of its usual nutriments." (Hamilton, God, Guns, and Israel, 2004, p. 93). The Zionist settlers, "in an effort to create shade and stop soil erosion brought new trees and plants which would grow rapidly and endure heat and low temperatures." (Ibid.) In other words, the Zionist settlers were able to save land in Palestine from degradation and ruin.
