Before the fall of the Roman Empire the Roman women were having less than 2.1 children per family (the amount necessary to maintain a static population) and the Romans imported black slaves.
They were defeated by an army that 50 years earlier they would have squashed like a fly.
The French (for example) women are having around 1.4 children per family and they imported `slaves`from Africa.
