| Most people have known for years that Israel has made a mockery of the "peace process" in order to pursue territorial gains. Although this was common knowledge, no "official" notice was taken for various political reasons. Now that Bush has blurted to the media that Israeli settlement expansion is an impediment to peace, the cat is officially out of the bag. It now becomes politically correct for governments to take "official" notice and follow Americas lead. In one of those "congruences" of history, the PA officials were threatening to discontinue peace talks due to the ongiong Israeli expansion. Olmert will certainly have to take a few steps back when he meets Bush next week. Thinking ahead, Bush has already planned another visit to Israel in the spring to check progress. Obviously Bush has begun to understand Israel. |
