| Not only due to Matan Vilnais` astute but unwise propsal to free Barghouti and this turn hime into Hamas` bargaining chip instead of Gilad Shalit. Not only because they hate but need each other. But mainly because Abbas learned from his mentor to ride whatever wave and turn it to his favour -or what he though was his favour-. Thus he will ride Hamas` desperation thinking a reapprochement is in his best interest, but will be ousted by Hamas in the West Bank sooner than he believes, should he trade horses and negotiate with Hamas instead of Israel. Abba Eban was right, they "Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity"... |
