Ultra orthodox communities are not immune to the ills of general society. I don`t have facts about the rest of the world, but the ultra orthodox segment has the highest proportion of domestic violence in all of Israel, and I myself have been part of a secular sponsored effort to address this phenomenon and spoken to women who have been beaten regularly by their husbands. So get off your high horse.
Being secular is not accepting a less moral life style, it`s accepting one with more responsibility where we have to make our own decisions and decide on our morality through a rational thought process. I guess one result of such a process is that we don`t catapult human feces on other Jews if we don`t like how they dress. |
