Haredim wouldn`t be more agreeable to core curriculum if Arabic was droppped. The objection to core curriculum isthe principle of the thing. Young boys and teen-agers should be spending their time studying Torah. As one famous European Rabbi once said "Your head should be so full of Torah, that not one brain cell should be free to study secular studies."
This is the traditional Haredi stan in Israel although overseas they have other ideas. In the meamntime as someone saidArabic is Israel`s second language. Don`t nenegate Arabic studies in order to woo the Haredim in a nonrequited love. |
