| Israel has no interest in making peace. If they did, then they would voluntarily stop all expansion in the west bank. Since Israelis realize that any peace would require a withdrawal frmo the west bank, then to continue to build in the west bank is insane if peace is likely. Israels strategy consists of responding to Hamas activity. This means that Hamas will always make moves that provoke an Israeli response that is favorable to Hamas. Israel is quite predictable in the responses to Hamas, which makes Hamas job easier. There is not a single peace initiative coming out of Israel. Currently they are engaging in useless talks which were pushed upon them by Bush, and are now a mockery. If Hamas has a "win - win" situation, it was handed to them on a silver plate by Israel. |
