You can`t have your cake and eat it. Either Gaza is not dependent on Israel for its victuals or it is. If it is, Israel is obliged to supply them. As it stands, Gaza is not independent, because that is the way Israel itself has arranged it. It has a deal with the Egyptians not to let the Gazans out or anything into Gaza at their end of Gaza`s border, but is denying the Gazans electricity, fuel and many other basic elements for survival that Israel must, therefore, by its own connivance, supply. Nor can Gaza be the part of the PA it should normally be, because Israel is holding most of Gaza`s members of the PA parliament in jail. The parliament therefore has no quorum and cannot take decisions on either the future of Gaza or the West Bank. I.e. it has been divested even of the possibility of being your enemy (or your friend).
