| 1 Since Wednesday, Hamas has fired at least 130 missiles into Israel. 2 Hamas fired 11 Russian made long range Grad missiles at the city of Ashkelon, which houses 120,000 residents, all defenseless. 3 Hamas uses its own civilian population as human shields from amongst which it fires the missiles, thus endangering the lives of Palestinian civilians. 4 The firing of missiels into Israel`s civilian populations is a gross violation of the laws of war, and should be condemned unequivocally. 5 Hamas continues its defiance of the international community`s demand that it stop its acts of terror. Such defiance undermines the international order and regional stability. 6 Since Israel disengaged from Gaza in 2005, withdrawing all of its troops, Hamas cannot claim that any of its acts are self defensive in nature. 7 Hamas` intolerable acts of war are deliberately undermining the much hoped for peace process between Israel and the Palestinian authority. |
