| David, you are correct in your assessment, but the population you are referring to is a small number of the old monarchists. There has been a steady flow of Iranian immigrants who weren`t as privileged coming to the US over the last thrree decades (the ones you refer to came right about the revolution). Also, Iran in the 70`s had the highest number of college students in the US universities in the world, some of which stayed here after things went south in Iran. The rest of them came here building their lives from zero (including yours trully) and made successful stories achieving unbelievably well in the face of many obstacles. TOday, as we speak, countries like Canada and Australia are granting immigration status to many Iranians in Iran who are educated contributing to the chronic brain-drain (ie Aus just imported 5000 doctors, MDs). |
