There are lies, and then, as Goebbels taught us, there are big lies, which become truths simply by being repeated often enough. The occupation of the territories and its purported consequences has become the Big Lie of the Palestinians and their supporters, which excuses all of their hellish behavior. Rocket a town? The occupation made me do it. Machine-gun a seder? The occupation, of course. Push a man in a wheelchair off a cruise ship into the sea? The occupation, you fool! Never mind all the terrorism from the nineteenth century straight through to June 1967 -- all the murders and mutilations and desecrations of bodies. Never mind Nasser`s ravings or Ahmadinejad`s bomb, it`s all because of the occupation. And, most delusional of all, the contrapositive of the Big Lie, which is somehow supposed to be less false than the original version: if Israel withdraws to the Green Line, then all terrorism will end.
