The guarding Wehrmaht(not SS !) batalion was granted immunity and in return,upon leaving the camp,sabotaged the el-supply,making it impossible for several days to effectively combat diseases rampant in the camp(up to 1000 deaths each day for weeks AFTER the liberation)
The German officer commanding the Wehrmaht detachment was outraged at the BBC filming the camp,"It puts us Germans in a bad light" and called typhoid feber ,a "Jüdefeber". |
