..they can be very misleading. I know of several cases local to me that have been noted as anti-semitic attacks on people and buildings when there was no reason at all to assume this to be true. Likewise I know of attacks that I felt to be clearly anti-semitic that were not recorded as such.
When people are attacked it`s impossible to say what the motive is unless it is verbalised at the time. An elderly rabbi was knocked to the floor a few months back but no one could say the thugs who did it wouldn`t have done the same to any other person.
The thing with buildings is that unless there is for example anti-semitic graffiti the attacks could just be mindless yobs getting a kick from damaging property. Plenty of churches get attacked and no one makes that into a race issue.
Also I think that there are too many people making out that anti-zionism is the same as anti-semitism and that is utter rubbish and helps no one. |
