Abbas and the PA have no control over Gaza, but they do control the West Bank. There are groups associated with the PA who still resort to violence over diplomacy. Abbas needs to move against them with a bit more conviction.
Hamas may have been democratically elected, but they are not a democratic movement. Many Gazans are sick of Hamas, but they are helpless in speaking out. Will they vote Hamas out the next time there are free elections? Forget it! There will be no more free elections in Gaza as long as Hamas rules. |
