A group of National Guardsmen decided shoot a few protesters at Kent State in 1970. The grounds were that the protesters were throwing stones (returning tear gas canisters fired at them).
The Guardsmen fired. Being National Guard they were not exactly up to the standards good training would aspire too.
They killed more bystanders than protesters. . .
Which brings me back to this story.
Let me accept the idea that some jerks from the PRC took some pot-shots at the bulldozer. Allow me also to assume that the Infantry unit covering it fired back.
And let me also assume that a 65-year old man on his own turf was probably an innocent bystander. . .
I doubt if there was any perfidy in this article. I doubt that the PRC jerks stood their ground, exposed, and wearing "shoot me" signs. I doubt if the IDF guys said "look, an old farmer, let`s waste him!"
There are things more dangerous than young men with guns.
And there are tragedies.
I think this was just a tragedy. |
