| I believe in total and unequivocal freedom of speech and expression. If a belief or religion is strong and secure it has nothing to fear from a film. The Passion of the Christ was brutal to Jews but I defend the right of the author to show it even though I loathed the film. I feel the same about Fitna. Islam has hundreds of millions of adherents. One film will do nothing to change that. If you do not want to see it then do not see it but I believe you cannot prevent others from doing that if they choose. Nothing is worth the taking of human life. Certainly a film is not worth that. Months after other films have evoked anger they are forgotten. A film or a writing has power but if the belief is strong it will not affect it one bit. |
