| First, let me say that the erection of a cellular antenna near the intersection of Bissonett and Hillcroft - in my neighborhood - caused a great controversy a few years back. Beyond that, it seems this dispute might be over more than antenna. The Druze sided with the Jews in the War of Independence, and have tended to side with them since. But as Druze are Arabs, they have been subject to the increasing racism of Israeli Jews. over recent years. This might be over nothing but antenna, or it might be far more important to Israel. Can 80% of any democracy afford to declare 20% sub-human? That is what a minority of Israeli Jews desire. |
