Maybe you shouldn?t be so quick with your ?punishments? since you have no clue.
- I can`t see anywhere any explanation from the doctors themselves.
- Anybody can make mistakes, even big ones, anybody at all. These are not hooligans, these are among the finest and most experienced doctors in Israel which again is among the first in the world in medicine.
-The patient was already in an operation for ?an intestinal obstruction of an unknown nature?. This is not some surgery planned months before, this is an emergency and the patient?s life is in danger. The ?critical pathological exam? that the doctors didn?t conduct (with the patient ?open? under surgery) may have risked her life. Maybe the doctors decided so, not for lack of care but according to all their knowledge and experience and they humanly erred. It?s tragic but they did their best. I remember the interview with Sharon?s doctors who explained the dilemma they had there.
They had to choose between two risky procedures. They have chosen and we all know the result. Had Sharon recovered, those doctors were heroes now. Same about Mrs. Barnea.
The hospital doctors work under unimaginable stress. Haaretz doesn?t say how many lives did these doctors save before this very sad error.
