| A: "We are no where near this today and therefore it is irresponsible of the authorities to risk the well-being of their citizens. It makes me increasingly worried that Israeli politicans are starting to behave more like their enemies who view their citizens as expendable." Unbelievable! The Israeli govt is paralysed, Avi. It can make no meaningful move towards peace with the Pals because of the presence of half a million Israeli colonists deep, deep inside Palestinian land. They are all armed to the teeth, and a very, very significant portion of them are driven by a messianic zeal. So *IF* the Israeli govt makes a move towards a final, lasting peace with the Pals *THEN* the most dangerous opponent the Israeli govt will likely face are these messianic, armed-to-the-teeth religious whackos in the West Bank. So the ruling junta is doing what all such regimes do; they are attempting to disarm a potent threat to their own rule before that threat becomes a reality. |
