| Olmert is under great pressure from Bush to make good on his many promises to dismantle illegal outposts. With the Annapolis followup conference coming in May, Olmert needs to show some sort of tangible progress in this regard. In a way, the "disarming" of some of the settlers can be part of the progress and at the same time, demonstrate to Bush the potential danger of dismantling. In any case, Olmert is taking reasonable precautions for a small concession to Bush. After that, it`s business as usual. |
