The majority of Israelis forwaw this result of the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Gaza. Sharon said he would take a referendum of Likud, since at the time he was the head of Likud. HE LOST. So, he changed his line, he is prime minister of all of Israe. BUT, he refused to hold a referendum on this extrememely significant historical action, that we see has resulted in hundreds of thousands of Israelis coming in range of daily rockets. HE KNEW he would loose again, and that is why he refused. His excuse of it taking too long is rediculous. So what, another six months before destroying the Jewish villages? Well, the people were right, the junta was wrong.
