- negotiations over shalit vs. pal. prisoners have been going on for a long time, always arriving at a dead end somewhere.
i guess the egyptians were trying to make something more comprehensive out of the deal, incl. positive events /gestures like a prisoners exchange & making it a preamble to further process, ie peace negotiations via abbas.
shalit & the release of pal. prisoners is not why it`s been blown up now. from the statements by the hamas spokesman it should be clear to you why hamas isn`t willing to go along w/it. it`s so obvious & couldn`t be clearer, as it always was before, they don`t want to embark on any path that leads to a final settlement.
