| Haaretz and other Jewish papers should not be judged too harshly for misreading Hitler. A lot of Germans were misled too. As far as underestimating the how far Hitler would go with his anti-semitism, I doubt whether H foresaw that himself. It`s a common mistake to think that politicians have it all planned out. Whatever their colour, politicians are generally constrained to react to events. Very often they find themselves victims of their own machinations. |
