There`s no point having Reform if they want to be neighbourhood Rabbis paid by the government to follow an official line. The greatness of Reform in America was the `free pulpit` whereby the Rabbi could express his own views and not be told by a central authority what he must say.The great Orthodox Rabbis of earlier generations were also independent and not gagged.
