Israel can only become a home for ALL Jews (being secular, orthodox, liberal, conservative, reconstructionist or messianic) when a separation of synagogue and state is realized.
In my contacts with secular Israelis, I hear that their main objection of religion is the present situation of institutionalized Judaism, even deciding who can marry or divorce whom. Isn`t it awful that the only place in the Western world where a Jew cannot marry a non-Jew is ISRAEL?
Religion should be a free personal choice and not a state affair! |
