| During the last war in Lebanon the Israelis bombed a UN observer post whose location was well known to them. They used artillery and aircraft to target and destroy this post, killing four UN officers. Israel refused to cooperate with the UN investigation of this incident and stonewalled the press until the issue went away. Since Israel is allowed to get away with this strategy, it has become their standard response to UN requests for cooperation. |
