Talansky makes money by raising tax-deductible contributions for Shaare Tzedek hospital. He would typically keep 20% of all the funds that he raised. Over several decades, this amounted to 100`s of thousands, if not millions, of dollars. Olmert, as the Mayor of Jerusalem, spoke at fund raising events, dinners, private cocktail parties at the behest of Talansky in order to raise funds for the hospital. They would both claim that Olmert shows up `voluntarily to help the hospital`, however, Talansky regularly paid Olmert, under the table, for his services. They both benefit. That is how it worked.
