| One of the major reasons for creating the UN Human Rights Council as a seperate entity was because America would automatically veto every UN resolution critical of Israel. There were a number of cases which had near unanimous support for a comdemnation of a particular action, but if the resolution was pointed at Israel it would get the auto veto. This routine went on for years. Apparently some of Israels supporters suffer from shock at the idea that a UN organization is now free to criticize Israel. To show their displeasure at being circumvented, America and Israel usually do not attend. Their absence speaks volumes. |
