With all due respect to the families, who would find some comfort in being able to properly bury their sons, I don`t understand this arrangement. Fallen soldiers should be returned to their country of origin, period, by both sides. Why is Israel holding dead bodies? If the two Israeli soldiers are alive than a significant concession for their release is indicated. If they aren`t, I`m sorry, it seems to be an arrangement which would only encourage keeping remains, or worse encouraging the killing of prisoners, since they know they will get something big for their bodies anyway.
It is happening right after the US, Saudi Arabia, etc rolled over on the situation in Lebanon so it`s hard to imagine that there isn`t a connection. Perhaps there is more to the deal than meets the eye. |
