| If this lobby wants peace its tactics are self defeating. There will not be any peace until the Arabs and Iranians accept the existence of Israel. Until now they have not had to pay a price for their refusal to do so. This is what has kept the conflict going for the last sixty years. Obviously it is not easy for any country, even the powerful USA, to go against the Oil Lobby, but that is what has be done if America really wants peace in the Middle East. Meanwhile Israel will determine its own security policies based on its own judgement of what is needed to survive in a dangerous neighbourhood. These comfortable American Jews can help, if they so wish, by encouraging their children to live in Israel. They are under no obligation to do so but then they should not pretend that what they are doing is helping to make peace. |
