Israel has only one thing the Syrians want - the Golan heights. They don`t want peace from Israel. In fact peace with Israel would not be beneficial to the Syrian regime. The problem for the Syrians is how to get back the Golan heights without giving Isreal what it wants, which is peace. The Syrians think they`ve hit on an answer; offer, the illusion of peace, something intangible (a signature on a document) in exchange for something tangible(the Golan), then continue to support Iran, Hizbollah and Hamas in there wars against Israel. The question is whether the Israeli`s will fall for this. I doubt it.
