| Israel "returns" the Golan to Syria, but stays in place under a lease agreement. If I know my Israeli negotiator as well as I think I do, then this arrangement would be paid for on an annual basis by the trusty American taxpayer. Bottom line, Israel gets peace with Syria without returning the Golan and at no cost to Israel. There are a hundred variations on this theme, none of which will work. It is in keeping with Israels goal of getting something for nothing. |
