#1: you bear the responsibility for your own speculations... Each side knows well what true peace entails.
There were also those who said, regarding Egypt, "Better no peace with Charm-El-Cheikh than peace without Charm El-Cheikh". And in the end, every square centimeter of Sinai was returned to Egypt. Good to remember that -- from the Israeli side. But what about the Egyptian side ? What they said against the peace agreement, I do not even dare to write it here. Anyway, in the end, good will prevailed.
And I hope that good will shall prevail also with Syria. And your country (US) bears a huge responsability with respect to the lingering of peace talks with Syria. The US administration just does not tolerate that two countries pursue their own interests. By definition, the tolerable interest is the interest that serves the US. Making peace with Syria is not in the interest of the US since *a priori* it has nothing to do with Iraq or Iran. |
