The flaw in your comment is what is in the US best interests. It would be in the best interests of the US non-Jewish population to cut off all ties from Isreal and let them fend for themselves. I think Isreal would be mmuch quicker to make a peace deal without the $3-4 billion in aid, access to our military hardware and technology and without our loan guarantees in order to further colonize the West Bank. I disagree with others about the significance of the Golan as a military asset. With GPS and long range missles, the Golan are pretty much irrelevant from a military standpoint. And Syria would never have the strength to ever mount a military challenge to Isreal. They could inflict damage if Isreal invaded, but they would lose nonetheless. Iranian and Russian weapons are still primarily inferior from an offensive standpoint (Syrias offense). Defensively, they would cause problems, just as Hezbollah proved. To dismiss the negotiations so quickly is a mistake by Isrealis.
