Any abuse of weaker is terrible. I do not have own children so it shakes me up any kind of abuse. However, I do not think the Rabbi is ill. There are different norms and different cultural patterns. Eliot was most likely beaten up as a small child and disciplined in similar way. Basically, he tried to turn children in perfection by tools he had at his hands and in sight. He should be charged but along with his parents. Do not take this as Jewish issue. Such things happen in many patriarchal religious based communities. Certainly, somebody has to enforce family therapy on his wife and children.
Life is all but not a museum in which all is static and fixed at expected places. Make a mess around your homes; let children to jump into some dust at least one day in month. |
