Thermal infra-red imaging technology was proposed for a fly-over the Temple Mount back in the early eighties to try and locate any altar foundation remains (along with its drainage channel) to more clearly identify the location of the Second Temple according to an architectural line up, but I`m not sure if that went through or if the depth-scan capable at that time of a meter plus was sufficient.
Perhaps this newer hardware along with its more refined software imaging algorithms could be employed further for a comination fly-over and for non-destructive probes of sections of the retaining wall to update our knowledge of the Temple remains. |
