The West Bank ( meaning west of the Jordan river) is not included in a ceasefire and Nablus was not included in the agreement. The Palestinians killed yesterday were armed and engaged in a gun battle - they were not observing a ceasefire. Israel did not break any agreement, the talks re the West Bank centered on Hamas men and was only to be considered six months from now. Gaza was the tester.
You can not blame Israel for defending herself - do you know how many suicide bombers came from the Nablus area?
I am very pessimistic about peace. As long as Hamas`s charter calls for our destruction as their main goal - what can we trust. A Palestinian state would eventually have come but with Hamas in charge , they would prefer war. This is a tiny piece of land, it would be better to live in peace and tolerance but I just do not think there will be, at least not between Hamas and Israel. |
