The reality on the ground is demonstrating that Israel did very well when it negotiated the pause agreement with Egypt last week. The Damascus-Gaza Junta is losing popularity since its policy viz Israel is inflicting severe economic punishment on the general population. The keys to an improvement in the standard of living in the strip is entirely in Israeli hands, and Israel can tighten the screws or loosen them at will. The Junta will not be able to resist both the ongoing progress in Israel`s gradual takeover in the west bank and the economic siege of the strip. Just like this week, the calm will be broken by the Junta or the smaller terror factions. Eventually Egypt will have to concede that the promises and assurances it received from Junta reps were empty. At that point, when the IDF reenters the strip, the Junta`s people in Damascus (who saved their skin during the IDF`s last incursion by begging the Arab regimes to bail them out) will be rebuffed and the Junta will fall.
