As a psychologist, I would say that unless you have endogenous depression (or psychosis), most people do `snap` for a reason. Further, triggering events (e.g., a fight, insult, disappointment, relationship problems, etc.) may interact with underlying stable beliefs (e.g., "Israelis are evil" "Damn the occupation" etc.) to elicit such a murderous emotional outburst, especially when the tools are readily available. Such individual acts are extremely hard to control, as they are not supported by organised terrorism, but they are fueled by the same type of hatred/propaganda/etc. on Arab TV, social milieu, and religious leaders/institutions. |
