Bush has proven himself to be a complete failure in the ME peace process, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and in foreign affairs in general, and Condi Rice has been literally useless as the US Secretary of State. The current US regime is not an unbiased partner in peace, as evident by its failure to halt Israel`s continued land thefts and settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank etc., so I think Assad is very wise to not trust the current US regime for a second.
Once GW and his inept cronies are out of office and, God willing, Obama takes over, then there will truly be a chance to see the end of Israeli many occupations and for peace to prosper. |
