| it should be expected that PM Olmert shakes hands with President Assad to indicate the seriousness of moving forward with the peace negotiations and indeed request that United States be involved in the process. The Mediterranean Union summit in Paris would be an excellent backdrop to such an opportunity. Israeli-Syrian negotiations parallel to the Israeli-Palestinian negotations should be welcomed by the Quartet and supported. |
