Well Joseph, FYI Jerusalem has become an ultra orthodox enclave and has cut its self off from main stream Israel. Under the current mayor Lupolianski, We can no longer call Jerusalem the democratic capital of Israel as it clearly does not represent all of Israeli society.
Jerusalem has become a hot bed of fanatics, Vast numbers of secular and religious people have left the city , the same people that work, pay taxes (national and city) and serve in the IDF.The current mayor has driven out young people and encouraged luxury apartment building for super rich jews from abroad that come only on the chageem. East Jerusalem residents have been denied basic services for which they have paid and not received , sowing seeds of hatred as the results of which we are seeing on a daily basis, Jerusalem is no longer safe for tourists and residents alike.
If Porush is elected mayor this will only add to this worrying trend, as he is a fanatic and only represents a certain minority. |
