Israel has little financial support, and it`s no coincidence that the more funding and investment a country devotes to its athletes, the more medals will likely be won. The Olympics is not a contest on equal footing, despite purporting to highlight the best in the world. Come on! Take a look at the nations of the world. If you can barely feed your people, they`re not going to run too fast!
However, we had over forty qualifying athletes and their attempts to save face and explain their losses is endearing. If they want to believe they lost medals simply because of some minor goof ups, go for it! After all, being up against the dominance and expediency of the worlds elite athletes is just a minor incidental anyway, eh? |
