There is a most amazing hole in Halevy`s logic. He states that an Iranian attack on Israel wouldhave little effect, as most of the missiles would be intercepted by our anti-missile system.
1. As proved in the first US-Iraq war, the Patriot missiles, while having performed perfectly in execises, performed miserably during the war itself, in `real time`. Many Iraqi missiles in fact got through.
2. In the event of just one or two, of the 100s of Iranian missiles getting through, say to one of our high-rise apartment blocks, the damage would be catastrophic - not least, psychologically. And in the event of just a single, nuclear-tipped missile getting through to the Tel Aviv area, hundreds of thousands might be killed, and Israel would be set back for generations, economically and socially. |
