| I`d like to know where you get your information. Apparently it`s all propoganda or wishfull thinking. Being an x Soviet, Russian officer I`m 100 % behind Russia, however, the truth is that 2000 people including 60 Russian soldiers were killed. One georgian division was destroyed, Russia lost 2 jet fighters and about 9 tanks destroyed some dameged, which speaks very highly of Georgian defense capabilities. Although our Russian forces are still realitively weaker then under Soviet Union, Georgia wouldn,n stand a chance no matter what arms were offered to them by Israel or US. As far as many people here think that Russia will form an alliance with Islamic countries, forget it. We Russians have been fighting Islam for over 400 years It was considered an honour for our Cossacs to raid and kill Moslems. As a young lutenent in 1966 in Egypt I had orders to train Egyptian troops on our weapons systems and in tactics my orders teach them minimum skills. |
