Israel has very few natural resources, and no oil or gas. It doesn`t even have one nuclear power station. It is hopelessly dependent on imported crude. All its oil refining capacity is concentrated in two locations, Ashdod and Haifa, which makes it vulnerable to attack by Hezbollah, Syria and Iran. The sensible approach for such a nation, dependent on other people for its economic survival, is to develop extreme skills in diplomacy, to cultivate regional friendships and to do its utmost to maintain calm and peace in its backyard. Mad as a bag of spanners, Israel does no so thing. Instead it relies on militarism and its hold on the USA through the American Jewish Lobby. Will you make 100, Israel? I doubt it. |
