| Two images come to mind when Israel asks the Bush administration for weapons. First, during Bush`s first visit to Israel he criticized Israels settlement expansion, calling it "an impediment to peace". Israel didn`t respond to this remark, but on Bush`s second visit to Israel he was greeted with the headlines, "Settlement expansion doubled". Classic moment. The second image is when, during the 2006 war, Israel quickly expended all their cluster bombs and requested an "emergency resupply" from America. Having received the resupply, Israel dropped a huge amount of these cluster bombs over the southern Lebanese villages in the final two days of the war, as the cease fire was being signed. These bombs have killed 30 civilians since the war ended. Israel is a dangerous loose cannon and it is about time that America treated it as such. |
